Tuesday Choons

Sometimes, all I want to do is turn off the lights, blast out some shamefully mainstream 'indie' music and channel my inner 15 year old emotional self to reconcile my life. Oh the tribulations.

Truthfully, this doesn't happen often. As much as I'd love to pretend I'm one of those cool quiet kids that can sniff out a successful new band practically before they've even formed, I'm just not. Stick me on a sofa with a magazine and the reassuring buzz of Radio 1 and I'm more than happy.

It's for this reason that today's choon comes as a result not of amazingly quick talent spotting skills, or indie channel surfing, nope siree. This week's song is so gloriously mainstream and about a month too late that I'm pretty sure you could call it vintage. Or something like that.

I bring you the candy haired Barbadian that is, Rihanna.

I can hear the groans already. I know, I know. It's not quite the unknown artist that you can test the waters with, this girl's a fully fledged Radio 1 limpet. But honestly? This choon can draw me to the dance floor and that, my friends, is not a sight you see very often.

Lastnight was me and my housemates birthday party. The DJ actually played a Rihanna mix, and in spite of Polly-Pocket sized proportions, that dancefloor became saturated with people as soon as her songs came on. Never before have I heard so many people shout ''Oh na na'' in perfect unison. Or at least not since the taunting of primary school playtimes [oh childhood].

So here you go. A delightfully overplayed choon that will get you off that computer chair and into scary mary dancing territory. Or maybe that's just me.

ha this is way off the target for me, but i guess i'm not the target market. bit too old and the wrong sex/not gay? or is that just to presumptuous? saying that, she is pretty hot.

totally agree with your last comment

I used to think it was really uncool to admit I listened to Radio 1 (this was in my elitist days) but since thankfully it's definitely easy listening! :) I love Rihanna, though not as much as I love B jazzy ♥
