Print in the post.

That's me. In a dress.

I know, I know, it's a bit of a shocker, but after being sent the most wonderful package from Yayer, I think it's about time I was a little braver about these things. It feels like summer after all, and with festival season around the corner it's the time of year when pretty much anything goes fashion-wise. Feathers, fringing, face-paints and florals...I want it all.

And this coming from the girl who once saw boot cut jeans and layered t-shirts as a staple. Some things change a person I suppose. Things like near-death experiences, holidays of a lifetime or meetings of fate. Oh, and boxes. Yep. Full-of-endless-goodies, bottomless-mary-poppins-style-boxes to be precise.

Getting back from holiday was such a downer, and with my mind on the uni work I had yet to finish, I would've been happy to hide out in Cornwall for another month or three. But the deceptively quaint little box that got delivered the day after arriving back home managed to shoo those worries away in a flash.

It was all a little overwhelming if I'm honest! The lovely Charlotte and Harriet sent me the sweetest note along with my prizes, and I couldn't get over not only their generosity, but their spot-on styling skills as everything was so me [though I'll be the first to admit you could send me anything from that website and I'd let out a squeal of joy]. In amongst the perfectly picked pieces were a couple of bold prints that normally I'd be far too scared to even try. But try I did and man am I converted.

This dress was one said converter, and as much as I loved the print, it was a style that I'd never tried before and would probably have steered away from but a week ago. Fast forward err....a week, and here I am wearing a V-neck, pleated-skirt dress with pink print and swooshy material [let's just say it again shall we.....SWOOSH]. It feels so....girly. And actually, I quite like it. Sadly, my long frame means the skirt could potentially become a little too swooshy, but just as soon as I snap up some cheap cycling shorts from somewhere, I can definitely see this one being worn to death at Glastonbury.

So not only am I now on a print-prowl, but I'm no longer terrified of dresses. Looks like it's not just matters of life and death that can change a person after all. A little competition entry can work wonders, thanks girls!

You look so lovely, I think I'd also find the print a bit much, but once on it really does look great. I found some cheap cycling shorts in H n M that have lace at the bottom, pretty good for slightly too short dresses! xx

You sound SO similar to my best friend, she was terrified of dresses and looking 'girly' but as soon as she found her perfect frock she was hooked :) You are gorgeous lady! I really like the print too, it's kind of aztec/jungle/navajo all rolled into one ♥ Claire @ Jazzpad
